Hot Regency Vampire Alert!!! #amreading #bookboost @annlethbridge

Lady Sybil's Vampire (A Most Peculiar Season Book 5)Lady Sybil’s Vampire by Ann Lethbridge
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ann Lethbridge is a wonderful storyteller and Lady Sybil’s Vampire is a perfect example of how skilled she is at writing not just Regency romance, but paranormal Regency romance.
This story of forbidden love and desire is exciting, fast paced and extremely romantic. Set in Regency London, the story follows the delectable vampire Anton Blade and the object of his desire, Lady Sybil Lofstrom. Anton is afraid to fall for Sybil because he has a debt to pay, which meant that he has vowed never to love. Worse is the fact that Sybil is human…or is she?
Sybil harbours her own fears, focused around losing her mind as her mother did. She sees things no one else can, and feels she cannot confess to anyone what she sees in case they imprison her as they did her mother.
When Sybil and Anton meet, they are irresistibly drawn together. Both lonely, both afraid but both strong and wilful, they are the perfect match and their inner light and darkness combine to make for a passionate and emotional tale.
I loved this book and have to confess that I cried my way through the final 20%. Anton is everything you want in a hot Regency vampire; animal, possessive and desirable. Sybil is a fabulous female lead because she knows how she should behave, she is aware of what’s acceptable for a lady’s companion in Regency England, yet she follows her own heart and mind.
I recommend this book for fans of Regency and paranormal romance.

#bookrelease – Cursed Treasure… Lord Suitor – by @ravenmcallan @evernightpub

Cursed Treasure… Book one Lord Suitor

It’s no secret that I fell into writing Regency romance by accident. And definitely no secret how much I love both the writing and the research. It’s so much easier these days, with search engines as well as very helpful librarians on our library van. (Once a week into the village and they get almost everything I ask for.) Once I decide I need information everything else gets forgotten about as I flit from one thing to another. Sometimes I end up nowhere near what I was looking for, but oh boy I’ve enjoyed it.
The idea for this series came about, strangely when I saw a stately home and it’s contents were threatened to be parted due to mismanagement over years and of course death duties.
I didn’t dwell on the death duty bit, but I’ve got an idea plotted around it…, but I did have a light bulb moment about someone with a fortune and someone without…
Of course, I didn’t know then that the fortune was said to be cursed.
Or that Id have a prequel of the story of how… and why… before the grown up children decided to rid the family of the curse and make a fortune again…
That’s a free read from Evernight and me… http://www.evernightpublishing.com/compromised-by-raven-mcallan/

And no, they’re not paranormal…
They just have cursed treasure in them…

Lord Suitor is Tessa’s story…

Blurb…

A smuggler and an aristocrat. Who should Tessa chose?

Both professed their love for her, both intrigued her. How could she pick one over the other?

When Tessa was accosted by a smuggler her life took a turn for the better. Or so she thought. Until Nathaniel, Lord Fenniston indicated his interest in her. She had to marry to help her family, but her loyalties are torn.

Either man could be the one, but how can she decide? Torn between them, Tessa must think hard and fast.

Luckily, fate has it’s own way of deciding, and Tessa had no option but to do as it dictates.

RM

And a wee tease…
“You’ve gone and done it now, youngster. She be dead. How you goi’n t’splain that to his Lor’ship, eh?” The rough voice echoed and fluctuated like the sound of waves rushing in and out of one of the numerous caves in the cliffs below Birch House. Tessa took a sharp inward breath and winced as one of the drums of the local regiment played a brisk march on her skull. How dare they? She needed to sleep, not be entertained in such a manner.
“She’s not dead,” the smooth-as-her-morning-chocolate voice said. “I didn’t hit her that hard, a mere tap. Just to let the ponies get on. See, she’s still breathing, you fool. Look, her bosom is heaving like a ship under full sail.”
A ship under full sail indeed. She may be nicely endowed in that area, but not to those extremes. That picture in her mind conjured up Lady Frame, whose bosom was akin to his description.
Tessa moaned and struggled to sit up. Strong hands held her firmly.
“Don’t wriggle, woman. You may well do me a mischief if you do, and I swear you might not welcome the results.”
She stilled immediately as a distinct bulge made its presence known in the cleft of her arse.
“There now, see? She’s wakening.” The velvety, cultured voice spoke once more.
Was it familiar? Tessa couldn’t get her thoughts straight enough to work that out.
“Come on, sweetheart, show us you’re back with us again.” Those strong arms—she had no reason to believe it was any other—gathered her up, and she felt safe and cossetted as a calloused hand stroked her cheek and then gave it a gentle tap. “Stop pretending.”
If she considered she was cosseted before, now she felt scolded like a recalcitrant child.
“Get you off, young sir.” The rough voice had become urgent. “Leave her with me. I’ll knock her out again and get away afore she comes around again.”
“Rubbish, enough of the violent thoughts. You go and do your bit, and I’ll speak to you tomorrow. She won’t see my face. The men need to know all is well, and you can reach them better than I can. I’ll do what is needed here. Off you go before my lady opens her eyes and clocks your ugly phizog. It might send her off again.”
There was a cackle of laughter, then a rustle and the fading sound of someone walking over what sounded like shingle.
“Come on now, I know you’re awake. Your breathing changed. Stop playing the dead man, and let’s get on.”
She bit her lip as she tried to open her eyes. They didn’t want to cooperate, and she suddenly realized why.
“Why am I blindfolded?” Was that weak and whinging voice really hers? “Take it off at once.” There, surely that sounded more in command?
It seemed not. Someone laughed.
“Sorry, sweetheart, nothing doing. It’s in your own best interest not to see anything. Look to the wall while the gentlemen do their work.”

Happy Reading,

Captured CountessCaptured Countess by Ann Lethbridge
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This novel was suspenseful, sensual and sexy!
The story follows Nicoletta, the Countess Vilandry, and Gabriel D’Arcy as they try to work out whether loyalties lie with France or England. As they embark upon the game of seduction, they become more embroiled than they ever could have imagined.
The story moves quickly and there are some extremely passionate and intensely romantic moments as the characters become intimately acquainted. There is also an element of the paranormal involved which adds an enchanting twist.
Ann Lethbridge’s historical novels are vivid and meticulously researched and her characters are endearing and intriguing.

#bookrelease – The Other Duke – by @jessmichaelsbooks

JessMichaels_TheOtherDuke800The Other Duke by Jess Michaels

Book 1, The Notorious Flynns

January 13, 2015

Blurb:

For years Serafina McPhee has been engaged to marry the heir to the Duke of Hartholm and for almost as long, she has been struggling to find a way out of that engagement. When he suddenly dies, she does not mourn but thrills at the idea that she will be free. Unfortunately, best laid plans go awry when the next in line for the title, her intended’s cousin, Raphael “Rafe” Flynn is forced to take over the engagement. But Serafina knows Rafe’s reputation as a libertine and wants nothing to do with him, either, even if he is devastatingly handsome.

She proposes an arrangement: she will agree to the marriage and provide Rafe with his heir and spare. Once she has done her duty, he will let her go. Rafe is intrigued both by her beauty and by her utter disgust with the idea of being his bride. Women normally fall at his feet, not cringe away from him. However, since their arranged marriage is not something he can escape, he agrees to her terms.

But when he finds out on their wedding night the truth about her torture at the hands of his predecessor, he finds himself driven not just to fulfill his bargain with his new bride, but to introduce her to desire. While they move closer together, surrendering to wicked pleasures, dangerous emotions may violate every agreement they’ve made.

Short Excerpt:

Serafina forced herself not to flinch as she entered the room with its richly paneled walls and tall bookcases filled with tomes Cyril had never touched in his life.

Come to think of it, Serafina hated this chamber as much as the parlor.

A man stood at the fire and, as her father shut the door, he turned. Serafina caught her breath.

She had never met Raphael Flynn, the new Duke of Hartholm and the cousin of her late fiancé. He wasn’t titled and moved on the outside fringes of the Upper Ten Thousand.

What had been said about him were murmurings of a reputation that seemed to both irritate and intrigue those in her circles. He was rich but no stranger to scandal and repeated behavior that thwarted Society’s many rules.

Even Cyril had hardly spoken of his cousin in the past except to malign him, which softened her to the man considerably.

And then there were the rumors of his intensely handsome good looks. Now that she stared at him, leaning on the mantel with a haphazard nonchalance that didn’t reflect the importance of the moment, she couldn’t deny that he was utterly beautiful. An Adonis. There was no other way to describe him.

MeasureOfDeceit-A72lg A Measure of Deceit (Ladies Book of Pleasures 3) by Jess Michaels

Blurb:
The Ladies Book of Pleasures, now credited with two marriages and countless other affairs and liaisons, has Society all aflutter. The one person not benefitting from its scandalous advice? The author herself.

From the safety of her anonymity, Lady Grace Hollis, Duchess of Jameswood, enjoys the blissful results of her handiwork—and pretends she does not miss the passionate proclivities she penned. But when her handsome editor begins making the rounds of Society parties, she wonders how long her secret will be safe.

Connor Sheridan wants—needs—to know the answer to the one burning question on everyone’s lips: the mystery writer’s identity. And it’s not just because their correspondence, delivered via untraceable couriers, has made him smile, frown, or imagine her engaged in erotic escapades—with him.

Other letters have begun landing on his desk, letters written by a decidedly unfriendly hand. And though it may threaten her reputation, the safest place for her could very well be his arms. Whether she likes it or not.

Anne has sworn never to marry again. However, she cannot help yearning to find out more about the pleasures of the flesh. Her deceased husband was more father than lover but she has felt passion once—before she married over six years ago.
Edward Moore loved Anne and proposed to her but when he left London to seek his father’s blessing, Anne was approached by Lord Moore’s lawyer who told her to forget Edward. If she refused, Edward would be disinherited. When Alfred Blackburn asked for her hand in marriage, Ann accepted to set Edward free.

But will her mistletoe ménage become a painful humiliation or the stepping stone into her very own happy ever after?

Excerpt:

“Where have you been?” Edward snapped as he sprang to his feet.
Guy laid his hat and jacket on the chair on top of Edward’s then offered a conciliatory smile. “I have begun to seduce her, as you wished.”
Edward stared at the younger man. His face was flushed and beautiful with youth and happiness, and his eyes sparkled silver-blue like the snow under the crisp winter sun. He reached out and caressed Guy’s cheek, rasping his thumbnail against the stubble on Guy’s skin.
“How was she?”
Guy glanced at his feet and cleared his throat.
“Guy?” Edward’s heart pounded hard beneath his white cotton shirt as an idea began to unfurl in his mind. “Guy?”
The artist met his gaze and smiled. “She is…as you described. Beautiful, cultured, well-mannered. Though she was also…”
“Tell me!” Edward was surprised at his own tone. He had sent Guy out to Anne, knowing she was a widow now. She had been widowed eighteen months, in fact, but he’d been abroad when her husband had passed, and only returned six months since with Guy in his employ. As a widow, previously married to a much older man, Edward hoped she would now be ripe for the picking. All his memories of Anne were of a tender, voluptuous, sensual woman ready for marriage and mating. He had held back from taking her during their courtship in spite of his burning desire to make her his as soon as possible. He had been prepared to wait until they were safely wed before he bedded her, but then she had given herself to another. A fat, greasy businessman who was surely no match for her elegance and beauty. Yes, it was true that she had no family name to match his own, but he had not cared a jot for that. After seeing his parents’ loveless marriage, Edward had harbored no intentions of marrying for money and social connections. Perhaps he had been a romantic, a dreamer, a fool. Yes…he had been a fool because he had believed that she loved him as much as he loved her. She had broken his heart in two.
As he would hers. With Guy’s assistance.
“I went to her home as agreed, Edward. It didn’t take much to encourage her to allow me to sketch her.” Guy didn’t finish his sentence but Edward knew what he meant. Anne had allowed the artist to see her naked, in all her milky-white-skinned beauty as he had longed to do. Well, he would see her thus. And soon. But it might take one or two more visits from Guy first.
“But you did not…”
Guy shook his head. “No I did not take her fully. I kissed her and caressed her and tasted her. She really has the sweetest flavor, like honey-cake and madeira wine.” Guy licked his lips and Edward pulled him into his arms and kissed him hard. He pressed his tongue between Guy’s teeth and plundered the younger man’s mouth, desperate to find some trace of Anne. Guy responded to him, running his hands down over Edward’s behind, and squeezing his firm cheeks until Edward knew that they’d continue this until they were both spent.
Edward pulled away and stared into Guy’s eyes. “Will she surrender? Do you really believe she will?”
Something flashed across Guy’s face and Edward wondered at it for a moment. Was it guilt? Regret?
“I believe that she will, Edward. I truly believe that. She is lonely and needy. I don’t think she has been loved as a woman should. She is not like the others.” His golden eyebrows met above his aquiline nose as he frowned. “They are grasping, clawing, and it’s all about them. But Anne Blackburn, she responded so sweetly and so tenderly that it was hard to leave her. The others I could not wait to escape from once I had attended to their needs but with Anne…”
Edward swallowed hard. He could see in Guy that same affection growing for Anne that he had once felt. Was it because Guy was his lover and they were in some way similar in their tastes? Guy did not usually lust after women. He had lain with women of the ton for Edward’s sake so that his plan would work, but when they took a woman together it was Edward who desired the female presence most. Guy just seemed to go through the experience to please his patron. So Edward was surprised that Guy actually seemed to be attracted to Anne. Yet he should not be, because she truly was beautiful in an innocent yet worldly way. She was a walking oxymoron of naïve experience and virtuous passion—a spring waiting to be tapped like the one in Bath which offered restorative properties and improved health to those who drank from it. Would Edward’s mind and body improve under Anne’s tender ministrations? Lord knew that he had not been right since he lost her. He had never again experienced that same joy and hope that she had given him during their brief courtship. And though he knew that he wanted to hurt her, he also knew that a life without her in it would be a dull life indeed. But crush her he would to avenge himself for the way she had torn his heart and life to shreds.
“Undress, Guy.” Edward pulled off his own clothes and watched as his lover did the same. When they were both naked, Edward pulled Guy to him and kissed him again, this time more tenderly than before. Guy ground his hips into Edward so that their erections met and their mutual arousal intensified.
Edward reached around his lover and slipped his finger between the artist’s tight buttocks, sliding it into the tight heat that he longed to penetrate with his cock. Guy gasped against Edward’s mouth. “Let me suck you first.”
“Yes.” Edward allowed Guy to lower him to the bed, then he surrendered to the hot mouth and tongue of his lover, his pleasure all the sweeter because he knew that the very same lips had so recently caressed the woman he loved.

Hope you enjoyed that! Mistletoe Menage is available at Amazon, ARe, Evernight Publishing and other book retailers.
