When Chris Falconer receives an email from his lost high school friend, Justin, ten years after he last saw him, Chris is overjoyed. The two boys had shared kisses and sworn love for each other, but before their love could be tested, Justin’s mother abruptly took Justin out of school, and they disappeared.

Multi-talented and handsome Chris is a cage fighter at Jack’s Clubhouse, and works in the Candy Apple club. He writes a column for a fitness blog and keeps himself busy, but deep down he’s never forgotten Justin—turns out Justin has never forgotten Chris either.

On a modeling assignment in New York, Justin sees Chris in a café and can’t help contacting him, but his ex, Todd, who doesn’t want Justin but doesn’t want Chris to have him either, has plans to throw their reunion into disarray.

So begins a love story full of emotion. Will Todd succeed? Or this time, will Justin and Chris have the happy ending and delicious love they deserve?

In the second MM romance from the Candy Apple series, I picked up on the character Hawk, the Dungeon Master in the Candy Apple. Chris Falconer is Hawk to the dungeon surveillance staff, but to others he’s a lonely man who often thinks about his past with regret. To the audience at Jack’s Clubhouse, where Chris cage fights and provides display fight bouts, he’s a thrilling sight.

Chris is:

  • six foot, two
  • has dark glossy hair
  • has deep blue eyes
  • is kind and gentle
  • writes a blog for fitness and fight fans
  • loves sex and giving his partner pleasure
  • is muscled and handsome
  • when he’s not fighting, favors black suits, or a leather jacket
  • is intelligent, multi-talented, calm and sophisticated

Justin is:

  • a fashion model
  • six foot two
  • has dark hair
  • has clear blue/gray eyes
  • is lonely and had a stressful upbringing
  • has never forgotten Chris
  • needs love
  • has lived in Denmark for many years
  • is hesitant and yet as soon as Chris begins to take care of him, he blossoms

Their story is sexy, romantic, sad, and happy. No one is more surprised than Chris when he is contacted by long lost love Justin and he will do anything to give Justin the love he needs.

Justin walked a pace behind Chris. It was such a relief to be near Chris, Justin’s fatigue threatened to overwhelm him. Every muscle in his body felt heavy. His gaze traced the broad shoulders and muscled thighs of the man in front. Chris’s hair was well cut and his suit obviously expensive. Chris was even taller than he’d been when Justin last saw him in person, but then so was he. Justin smiled as a wave of tenderness crept over him followed by a sharp need to feel Chris’s lips on his. He still loved Chris. He’d expected to find it was all in his head, that the love was confined to memories, and real life would show him he was mistaken, that love couldn’t last this long.

They were in a corridor when Chris turned to him. “I’ve thought about you so much, I’m a bit ashamed of myself for clinging to your memory, when you never called, when you just disappeared.”

Justin’s heart fell. Was Chris about to reject him now they were away from the bar, the friendly barkeep, and bright white glow of the downlights there? “I’m sorry…”

“No. I meant … I mean I still care for you. I couldn’t ever shake it. I never got over you and it’s been … it’s been so long—you know I sometimes felt weak for not letting go.”

Justin gazed at Chris’s handsome face. “I thought about you.” He slid his hand along Chris’s jaw. “I want to kiss you, so much.”

Chris closed the small gap between their bodies as he grabbed Justin’s head and brought his mouth down on Justin’s. Justin’s breath left him in a soft murmur. His eyes closed in pleasure. He clung to Chris, desperation to stay with Chris, never to go home, gripping him. All he could think of was starting again with Chris, of the delicious drifting sensation that overcame him as Chris pressed close. He kissed Chris over and over until he couldn’t breathe, and Chris held his face away a little whispering words he’d longed to hear against his mouth and dotting tiny kisses there between the phrases.

“Justin, stay here, in the club. I can’t let you go, but I can’t leave work. I still love you. I want to know where you’ve been all these years. Where do you live? You must be a club member. I’ve not seen you here before. Can you stay until we close? It will be late, but then we can talk—we can be together.”

Justin closed his eyes and leaned his head on Chris’s shoulder. “Yes.”

Chris folded Justin in his arms.

Justin stayed within the comfort of the embrace until he knew he had to let Chris get back to work. He raised his head and stepped away.

“I should let you work. I’ll hang out at the bar.”

Chris gazed into his eyes. “Thank you.” He kissed Justin gently. “Hell, you’ll never know how good it feels to kiss you again.

Thank you for inviting me to your blog today to celebrate my new release with Hot Ink Press, erotic paranormal romance, ‘Deep Dream.’

This story concept was originally formed for a proposed series. Now it has been completed revised, lengthened, and re-edited for Hot Ink Press.

Essentially a vampire erotic romance, it also has threads of magic, and taking place in New Orleans, it’s set in a music club/rock club, the mysterious StarZ.

Ethan Ross, the vampire hero, has been in New Orleans since his girlfriend and sire, dumped him in 1922. He’s used to the weird undercurrents of the city and now works in StarZ that caters to the supernatural folks. His band, Deep Dream, play there. He’s tasked with taking care of the ‘ordinary humans’ that arrive in the club and he does this happily …

With a broken heart to heal Ethan swore off love long ago … that is until starry eyed Anna Prideaux wanders into his life.

Then sparks start to fly …

She watched him disappear into the gloom. Anna stood and scooped her phone from the counter. She glanced around to check who might be watching her. When it looked like no one was, she quickly followed Marcus. She quickened her pace as she lost sight of him in the swirling mist at the back of the club’s main room. Marcus disappeared.

When she reached where she’d last seen him a shiver spiked up her back. The mist was freezing cold, the air thick with potent. Anna turned away as a weird fear gripped her. She practically ran back to the bar, weaving through the groups of patrons, and muttering, “Sorry,” as she knocked into one, splashed the drink from the glass of another, until she stood in front of Ethan.

His gaze mesmerized her. She wasn’t even sure she actually heard his voice, but somehow he soothed her.

“Anna, it’s time you went home now. You want to go home. You have work to do transcribing the interview with the band. Everything’s fine.”

She smiled at him. “I’m off now. Thank you for answering my questions. Thank Marcus for me. He left.” She gestured toward where she’d run from. A flutter of fear rose in her stomach and then Ethan was leaning forward, his blue eyes capturing her so that she dreamily froze to soak up his low voiced words.

“Goodnight, Anna.”

She left the club happily, a faraway feeling carrying her along …

#bookreview – Letting in Light – by Emma Davies

Letting in LightLetting in Light by Emma Davies
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Letting in Light is a beautiful and well written story about life, love, loss, healing and finding out who you really are. Emma Davies gently immerses you in the lives of the characters with her lovely soothing tone then, just when you least expect it, she throws in a moment of tension that will make your heart hammer.
I thoroughly enjoyed the journey through this story. I liked how the author revealed the inherent goodness present in most people that we can miss if we don’t look closely. I also savoured the vivid details of the story and I shared the heroine’s enjoyment of things such as freshly baked cakes, a real fire, that intense first kiss and a walk through the woods.
Letting in Light was a pleasure to read and I finished it feeling uplifted and rather emotional.

#bookreview – This Fragile Life – by Kate Hewitt

This Fragile LifeThis Fragile Life by Kate Hewitt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This Fragile Life is an intense and highly emotional story about two friends, their relationships, their busy modern lives and their hopes and dreams. It is full of raw emotion and human longing for the things that we all believe we’re entitled to, yet sometimes cannot achieve.
Motherhood is a gift but not all women desire it and some are unable to have children. Through her expert weaving of the stories of different generations of mothers in the novel, Kate Hewitt explores how mothers can get it right and enrich the lives of their children, but also how they can get it wrong and leave their children with issues that can last a lifetime.
One night can transform your life – for better or for worse – and Kate Hewitt doesn’t shy away from writing about the emotion and pain that some topics can stir. Instead, she writes about them respectfully, articulately and in a way that affects the reader deeply.
I have to be honest and admit that at 90% through the novel, I was tempted to put my Kindle in the freezer (Joey from Friends style) because I feared its conclusion, but I’m glad I didn’t because the end of the story is beautiful, poignant and uplifting. Kate Hewitt shows that there can be so much hope from so much pain because of the human capacity to endure and keep moving forwards, even though we always carry a part of our loved ones with us.

#bookreview – Tied Up With Love – by @Amelia_writes @ukcarina

Tied Up with LoveTied Up with Love by Amelia Thorne
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!
From its exciting opening, Tied Up With Love grabbed me and pulled me into its fast paced world of love, passion, heartbreak and the world of KMW. The main characters Izzy and Ethan are adorable with their insecurities, their mutual passion and their fierce devotion to their morals. Izzy is funny, sweet and kind and Ethan is an absolute hunk with that hot, dark, brooding, raw masculine thing going on. OH MY!!!
The story line was completely original and I gasped when I first read the plot line but it works SO WELL!!! Amelia Thorne creates gripping novels that are very well written with intriguing premises, tightly weaved stories and secondary characters that enhance and develop the plot. (Gizmo is the cutest, sweetest guy!)
I read Beneath the Moon and the Stars and loved that story and now I want to go back and read Tied Up With Love all over again. Amelia Thorne is a writer to watch because the lady is a rising STAR with the ability to TIE her readers to her wonderful books. I cannot wait for the next one!

#bookreview The Chateau by @KarenAldous_ @ukcarina #amreading #bookboost

The ChateauThe Chateau by Karen Aldous
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Chateau was the first book I have read by Karen Aldous but it certainly won’t be the last. This beautiful novel whisked me away from the rather cold, drizzly UK and took me to the picturesque shores of Lake Geneva.
The heroine Gina is sweet and kind. All she wants in life is to make a success of her property business and to settle down and have a family with her long term lover, Max. Sounds simple enough, right? But love is never simple and Karen Aldous shows us this through the central characters’ relationships and through those of the supporting cast. Gina’s life is further complicated by her attraction to the sexy and apparently arrogant Ollie, a property developer who can’t seem to stay away from Gina. But as with all good heroes, Ollie is more than just a handsome face.
Karen Aldous also blends in a supernatural mystery which Gina feels compelled to solve – with Ollie’s help, of course. I loved the way that she blended glimpses of history in with the modern day setting.
This novel is enchanting, romantic and funny, even when the author is dealing with some of the harsher realities of modern day life as well as some unpleasant events that happened in the past. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
