Prada and PrejudicePrada and Prejudice by Katie Oliver
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Prada and Prejudice was SO much fun! I thoroughly enjoyed this romp of a read.
Our heroine Natalie Dashwood is a tad spoilt and self-absorbed at the start of the novel but it’s clear that she has a good heart from the way in which she treats her ex, rock-star Dominic, and her friends and family. She is an adorably innocent character and even when it was obvious that she was in the wrong, I was still routing for her.
Rhys Gordon our hero is clever, charismatic, hot and, at times, a ruthless businessman. He may have been brought up on a council estate but he knows his way around money and makes plenty of it. He is the perfect match for Natalie but theirs is a rocky road…will they or won’t they?
Along with the burgeoning romance, the novel has a few exciting sub-plots involving fashion designers and disgruntled employees of Dashwood and James department store, and these add to the fun. Katie Oliver brings all of the story strands expertly together at the end and if, like me, you love a happy ending, you won’t be disappointed.
I loved this novel.

One Hundred Christmas Proposals #Competition @hollymartin00 @ukcarina

One Hundred Ch ProposalsOne Hundred Christmas Proposals is out now, here’s the blurb:

The eagerly anticipated follow-up to One Hundred Proposals.

If you thought Harry & Suzie’s life couldn’t get anymore sweepingly romantic than Harry asking her to marry him at the end of One Hundred Proposals – think again!
It’s Christmas in a snow-kissed London, and the.PerfectProposal.com have vowed to carry out one hundred proposals in December. No easy task at the best of times – made even more complicated by Harry & Suzie trying to plan their first Christmas and a visit from the dreaded in-laws. But one hundred deliciously Christmassy proposals later they find themselves asking if everything is still perfect in their own relationship….
Welcome back to the divinely warm world of One Hundred Proposals – with a sprinkling of pure, joyful, festive magic.
Have yourself a very merry Christmas indeed with Holly Martin’s Christmas novella.
I love this story and I’m so excited about you guys reading it too. I never thought I would write a sequel for any of my novels, but catching up with Harry and Suzie, two of my favourite characters, in London at Christmas was a story that was begging to be told. What I love about this story is instead of Harry proposing to Suzie, we get to see some of the amazing proposals they organise for their clients and we learn a little about their clients’ lives too. One of my favourite proposals in this story is the sightseeing flight over London with the proposal written in flowers on a boat on the Thames.

Now you can win a sightseeing flight over London too and experience some incredible views of our capital.

This experience gives you a unique perspective on the sights of London. After a short pre-flight briefing, you’ll board a Piper Seneca twin-engine plane for a fantastic half hour sightseeing trip.

After taking off in Essex you’ll follow the Thames west into the heart of the city, getting a unique view of the capital. You’ll see the O2 arena, Tower Bridge, HMS Belfast, the towers at Canary Wharf, The London Eye, The Shard and the Houses of Parliament. Then turn north to fly over Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace, before heading back east to land in Essex. You’ll get an amazing perspective on the geography of the city and the beauty of its landmarks, so whether you’re a tourist or a Londoner, you’ll see the capital in a whole new way. And if flying isn’t your thing, this would make the perfect Christmas present for someone in your family.
All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning is copy one of the pre-prepared tweets below, tweet it and you’ll automatically be entered into the draw to win this prize bundle. The more you tweet, the more times you’ll be entered.
The competition will run until midnight (UK time) on Sunday 14th December so plenty of time for tweeting. Every time you tweet, you’ll be entered into the draw.

Good Luck

A Stunning Debut… #bookreview @Amelia_writes @ukcarina

Beneath the Moon and StarsBeneath the Moon and Stars by Amelia Thorne
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a stunning debut from a gifted author. Amelia Thorne has the ability to combine comedy, romance, spice and mystery in one gripping plot.
Joy Cartier, the heroine, is bright, talented, strong, petite and beautiful. She has a rescue dog called Darcy and a caring brother but is otherwise all alone in the world. She has a tragic and troubled past, but in spite of this, she carves out her way in the world without fear or hesitation – LITERALLY! 😉 I loved the fact that, even though Joy was tiny, she kicked ass whenever anyone tried to get the better of her. She is a heroine you can empathise with, adore and admire.
Finn, gorgeous, rich movie star and Joy’s new neighbour is HUGE! Oh boy! In every way you can imagine… This is a man you just have to read about. He’s deep, dark and dangerous like Heathcliff, yet penetrate beneath the tough exterior (pleeeaaassse) and he’s as sweet and passionate as they come. He’s as drawn to Joy as she is to him but he fights his attraction to her and it makes for scintillating reading. Will they won’t they…?
Other characters include brothers Casey (an absolute sweetheart) and Zach (tart with a heart) and the vile villagers of Bramble Hill – Britain’s’ friendliest’ village. Warning: watch out for this lot though as they bring their own troubles and dilemmas into Joy’s already turbulent life.
Amelia Thorne is an author to watch and I will certainly be keenly awaiting her next novel.

#coverreveal – Beneath the Moon and the Stars – by @Amelia_Writes @ukcarina

Today I’m thrilled to be taking part in a cover reveal for the gorgeous Amelia Thorne. Her debut novel will be released on October 17th.

So…here’s the cover and the blurb…

Beneath the Moon

Home, sweet home…

Joy Cartier has been to some of the most beautiful places in the world – but none of them have ever felt like home. So moving into a tiny cottage in the idyllic village of Bramble Hill, walking distance from her childhood home, seems like the perfect plan.

That is, until she gets there. The surly inhabitants of Britain’s Friendliest Village are anything but welcoming. Even her neighbour, reclusive Hollywood star Finn Mackenzie, takes one look at her and walks in the other direction.

But when the village animosity steps up a gear, it is the infuriatingly brooding Finn who keeps coming to her rescue. Slowly Joy begins to realise that maybe a happy home isn’t about where you live, but who you’re with…

#bookreview – Not Quite Perfect – by Annie Lyons @ukcarina @1annielyons

Not Quite PerfectNot Quite Perfect by Annie Lyons
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a book about life – it’s about being a woman, a wife, a partner, a daughter, a mother, a friend and trying to have a career…or not. It’s about having it all (even if it’s a juggling act)and not realising exactly what you have until it’s gone. However, Annie Lyons doesn’t gloss over the grit and I loved that about this book.
The title sums up exactly what the novel is about – life isn’t perfect, people aren’t perfect and relationships certainly aren’t perfect. Some of us beat ourselves up about our flaws and some people walk around in blissful ignorance, but at some point, everyone will be affected by someone else’s actions in some way.
Not Quite Perfect is funny, emotional, addictive (I just could not put it down) and it would make perfect holiday or weekend reading.
The characters are believable and likeable – except for one or two in particular and I won’t give that away here but as the story progresses you’ll find yourself hissing when they appear , lol – and Annie Lyons gradually reveals their traits through an entertaining and engaging plot.
At times I laughed out loud – especially at the children’s antics – and at times I sobbed.
Life may not be perfect but this novel is!
I’m now reaching for Annie’s next book…

#bookreview – One Hundred Proposals – by Holly Martin

One Hundred ProposalsOne Hundred Proposals by Holly Martin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

One Hundred Proposals is a funny tearjerker that will grip you from the first page. Holly Martin quickly and expertly involves you in the lives of her characters so that you feel their joy, sorrow, confusion and conflict.
The novel tells the story of Suzie and Harry, best friends and partners in their business the.PerfectProposal.com. Harry comes up with a PR stunt to drum up more business and the outcome is hilarious, turbulent, heart-warming and, at times, utterly swoon worthy.
Harry and Suzie jet off around the world and get to visit a bucket list of places that anyone with adventure and love in their heart would be proud of. There are moments in the novel that made me laugh out loud and some that made me break down in tears and I really lived this story with Suzie and Harry.
Holly Martin brings real life issues into the plot so vividly that the reader is swept along with the sometimes painful, but always wonderfully vivid emotions of love, loss and reality.
I loved all of the proposals but my favourite was the first one in New York. I won’t say anymore about this but you’ll have to read it to find out just how incredibly romantic it is.
Suzie is a sweet and adorable character with relatable insecurities and her own recent inescapable grief and Harry is gorgeous, protective, vulnerable raw masculinity at its best. Just phwoar!!!
This line…”It was incredible…touching the past as the future rushed towards us in all its golden splendour.” WOW! This lady can write!
Holly Martin is an author to watch out for because she has a wonderful talent for creating enjoyable reads that tug at the heart strings and characters that you just want to meet up with for coffee.
A perfect summer read!
