A huge thank you to the lovely Molly Ann for hosting me and Christmas with Caden. Happy Holidays!
Today I’m interviewing the lovely and talented Nikka Michaels. Her book, Christmas with Caden is a contemporary erotic romance and was released on December 15, 2013.
Thanks for joining me, Nikka!
How did you come up with the title of your book or series?
My lovely beta reader and sometimes co-writer Eileen Griffin actually came up with the title after a read. She’s awesome with titles.
When did you start writing toward publication?
April 2013 is when I started writing Chasing Matt with Eileen Griffin. The rest they say is history.
Will you share some encouraging words for authors still struggling for that first contract?
Be patient. You’re going to get rejected a lot. And you have to be prepared for it. The trick is not getting discouraged until you find the right publisher or agent who shares your vision for your story.
Do you ever suffer from writer’s block and if so, do you have any tips on how to overcome it?
I get it all the time, unfortunately. For me, the best way to overcome it is working on a different project for a while. It kinda reboots the brain and may give you some more new ideas for the other project.
Who or what inspires you?
I love music for inspiration, but also I watch tv and movies and read a ton when I have time.
Can you share two/three fun facts about yourself?
1) I can’t swim. Not even a doggy paddle.
2) I’m a total foodie, wannabe food network junkie and Chopped addict.
3) I wear socks with sandals sometimes. (It’s a shameful NW US thing)
What’s next for you?
I have a story called Waking Up Wolf in Evernight Publishing’s Alpha’s Claim: Manlove Edition shifter anthology in January. I have a short M/M BDSM story called Room Service releasing from Cobblestone Press in February. Also for 2014 is the two book M/M foodie series co-written with Eileen Griffin titled In the Raw and In the Weeds from Carina Press.
That all sounds so exciting, Nikka! 2014 is going to be a BUSY year for you! 🙂
Paige Anthony is annoyed at spending Friday night at the company Christmas party. She’s bored until she spots the son of the boss, Caden Davis dancing and is intrigued.
When Caden saves Paige from the advances of his brother, she looks at him in a new light. A few sexy dances later, she manages to forget the horrible beginning of the night. When she decides to leave, he offers to walk her home and admits he’s wanted her for a while. Will Paige’s attraction be enough to make her forget about holidays past and consider Christmas with Caden?
“Is this how you really dance? Because you can show me the real you, you know. After all, you did just middle school dance me. I want a Caden dance.”
His slow, wicked smile made her stomach flip and heat flood her skin. “You want me? You got me.”
Slowly he spun her in a circle, her back resting against the front of his body. His hands settled on her hips, squeezing gently as he nuzzled her ear. His fingers pulled the fabric of her dress taut against her nipples as the delicious friction intensified with every move. She bit back a low moan at the sensation.
“This is me. This is how I really dance.”
Shivering at the feel of his warm breath against her ear, she closed her eyes and let her body go loose, relaxing as she moved with the beat of the music. His hands smoothed up and down her sides, teasingly light as he moved with her, not guiding but simply moving with her.
Through the thin fabric of her dress and his shirt and suit pants, heat from his body added to the sweat that beaded on her skin. She could feel his hardness pressing against her ass when she rocked back into him, though he let her lead all their movement. The club had gotten more crowded as they’d danced. The look on his face when she glanced up at him was one of hunger, his heavy-lidded eyes gone dark, illuminated by the flash of the strobe light. With the top buttons of his shirt undone, he looked as though he’d just been dragged off the floor and ravished.
Paige wanted to be the reason he looked that way.
